How Do We Clean Rugs?
After your booking is confirmed, we will dispatch a fully qualified fabric cleaning specialist to handle the cleaning process. Upon arrival, the technician will examine the rug’s fabric and, if necessary, perform a fiber identification test. They may also check the pH level of the fabric to determine the most suitable cleaning products. Additionally, the technician will assess the rug for any damage, scuffs, stains, and color fastness (also known as color bleeding).
Based on the condition and fiber type of your rug, the technician can choose from four cleaning methods:
Dry cleaning
Foam cleaning
Cold water extraction cleaning
Deep steam/water extraction cleaning
Dry Cleaning:
Dry cleaning is suitable for all types of rugs but is essential for specific silk variants, as well as sisal, seagrass, jute, coir, viscose, and plant fiber or pulp-based rugs.
Some rugs can only be cleaned using a dry cleaning compound or powder, as liquids can be absorbed by their fibers, causing permanent damage.
In such cases, our technician will inform you that the rug is dry-clean only and will point out any stains that may be difficult to remove due to fiber damage.
If there are no stains, or if you choose to proceed with cleaning despite the existing damage, the technician will apply a dry powder, which is then worked into the rug’s fibers. This powder effectively absorbs dirt, allergens, and bacteria from the fibers.
Following this, the technician will professionally vacuum the rug to remove the powder along with any dirt residue.
It’s important to note that dry cleaning is the traditional method for fabric cleaning. While it is not intended for stain removal, it serves as an effective hygienic cleaning process.
